Baseball Not Equal to Softball In Indiana

Feb 5, 2009 by Lee Gaby

Female athletes in Indiana just got a break from the Indiana High School Athletic Association, which has avoided a lawsuit over the issue of whether softball and baseball are comparable sports. The IHSAA board recently voted 18-9 to let girls try out for baseball, even if their school has a softball team.

Prior to this decision, girls could participate on a boys’ teams in baseball, basketball, football, soccer and wrestling when a comparable girls program did not exist at the school.
