ESPN publishes report on Football and Insurance

ESPN released its report January 17, 2019 with insights and opinions from a wide range of risk professionals about emerging concerns from CTE research and the effects on availability and affordability of liability coverage for youth, high school, college and professional football programs. Questions are being raised about whether football and other sports are contributing to conditions such as chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), which is caused by repetitive brain trauma. The ESPN article reference a session at the 2018 Casualty Actuarial Society Annual Meeting that explored the various insurance implications involved with CTE and other brain injuries.
